joins Protocinema as Head of International Patronage


Protocinema is pleased to announce the appointment of Tansa Mermerci Ekşioğlu as Head of International Patronage. With her extensive relationships and experience, Ekşioğlu is responsible for expanding support for Protocinema by growing its Board of Trustees, International Commissioning Committee and contributors. Tansa Mermerci Ekşioğlu is the co-founder and managing director of SPOT Projects, as well as an art collector and patron. Ekşioğlu has contributed to the production and exhibition of works by national and international emerging and established artists. She is a member of the SAHA Association and on Tate's Middle Eastern North African Acquisitions Committee from 2015-2018 Ekşioğlu is also a dedicated supporter of the Istanbul Biennial and one of the sponsors of the Turkish Pavilion, Venice Biennale. Ekşioğlu graduated from Brown University in May, 1997, with a BA degree in International Relations. Upon graduation, she started to work as a Board Member and Business Development Manager in her family’s textile company, Akfil Holding A.S. During her years at Akfil Holding, between 1997 and 2008, Ekşioğlu designed costume jewelry as a side business. Ekşioğlu is the Chairman of Adile Mermerci Foundation that supports the education of bright students from K-12 grades. She acquired her MA in Art, Business and Law from Christie’s Education in December, 2018. Ekşioğlu is married and works and lives in Istanbul and New York.
